Reclaim Your Health
Got a tickle in your throat? A cough? A runny nose? Eeeeeek!
Nowadays, otherwise normal symptoms like these, can feel frightening when we think: “OMG This could be the dreaded virus!”
Before you know it, it’s not the virus, but our thoughts that have us by the throat. We are hurtling down from one terrifying thought to another into a bottomless pit.
Enough! There are ways to stop this self-torture and turn your thoughts around. I’ve written about many of them on this blog. And it is best to catch yourself in the early subtle stages before the momentum of fear builds.
Here’s a practice I use to help me calm my mind, release throat tickles, and feel better in my body. I also use this practice when I’ve received an unsettling diagnosis and at times when I just feel a vague fear about my body.
Reclaim Your Health Process
Get into a comfortable position, preferably lying down.
Breathe deeply in and out, in a natural way.
Calmly repeat a series of at statements that feel uplifting about your body, your cells and/or your connection to Source Energy.
Some of my favorite statements are:
- It is natural for my body to be well.
- My body knows what to do.
- All my cells are asking for healing and Source Energy is answering.
- I’m in very good hands.
- I am willing to release all resistance.
- I will relax now, to allow communication between my body and my Source.
- My only work is to relax and breathe.
- I can do that.
- I can do that easily.
Most of these statements come from the book, Ask and It is Given by Abraham-Hicks, process #21. I’ve used these uplifting statements so often, I can recite my favorite ones by heart and on the go.
For example, when I have a sudden sharp pain, like cramps, I immediately and calmly repeat a shorter version of these statements: Relax and breathe. My body knows what to do. Relax and breathe. I can do that. I can do that easily. Relax and breathe. So many times, I’ve felt the pain rapidly disappear.
Your mind can only hold one thought at a time. You are either fueling the pain or reaching for relief. You do have the power to choose.
Want to get better at remembering your favorite soothing statements? Practice while you are washing your hands: It’s natural for my body to be well. I have a strong immune system. My body knows what to do. I’m in very good hands.
Why This Health Process Works
When you have discomfort of any kind, it means you have created resistance in your body – beliefs that are not allowing the well-being that is natural. You have thoughts that do not feel good when you think them, such as “I’m not good enough, I don’t do enough, I don’t have enough money, I’m all alone, I have a poor immune system, things are just getting worse.”
Over time, the constant repetition of these thoughts that don’t feel good can lead to sensations and pain in the body.
The solution is to relax and reach for feelings of relief. The process above can help with that.
Try it and See for Yourself
You don’t have to take my word for it, just try it for yourself and see how you feel. And write in the comments to share what you learned.
