Neighbors Collaborate in Next Top Spiritual Author Contest
Instead of the typical “every man for himself” ideology, my husband Howard and I have joined forces with 3 other writers and members of our cohousing community in an effort to win the Next Top Spiritual Author contest.
Susan McFee, Daniel Lindenberger and Lauren Plaviak have been meeting regularly for over a year as part of a strong writing group. Howard and I have been writing on our own and the contest catalyzed our desire to write a book together.
The Next Top Spiritual Author competition was created by best-selling author James Twyman and Robert Evans. The first of its kind, this on-line competition has unexpectedly swept the world with over 2,700 entries. The big prize? A publishing contract with Hampton Roads and $50,000 US for marketing.
“This has simply become a bonus at the end,” Lauren says, “it’s really more about the journey as we push ourselves outside of personal comfort zones and boundaries to get our message out there.”
Marketing meetings, brainstorming sessions, and laid back gatherings over snacks and tea are only a few items on the agenda for our group. Getting together is easy when we all live on the same street.
“This is why we love WindSong Cohousing community so much,” say Susan and Daniel, “where else could anyone encounter such a rich network of supportive community members right outside the door?”
With three exciting books emerging, we are continually exploring new ways to rally votes and collaborate on each book’s separate path to publishing.
Book pitches for viewing and casting your vote (until May 3, 2010):
[Update: Contest over, links no longer active]
Miriam Evers & Howard Staples: Feel Great Naked-A Spiritual Guide for Enjoying the Journey.
Susan McFee & Daniel Lindenberger: Life Balance Lotus helps individuals create a fulfilling life they are passionate about.
Lauren Plaviak: Asante Sana Kenya explores her transformational time in Kenya.
You may cast your vote for more than one book.
Thank you for your support.
