Joy First is Key to Success with Law of Attraction
I have been fascinated by the power of thought from the time I was six years old. That’s when my father successfully convinced me I could cure warts with chalk. My warts vanished and I told everyone about it, until my father took me aside. He told me, “I know nothing about warts or chalk, but I do know that what you believe becomes true for you.”
My passion for learning to create on purpose, with the power of thought, led me to study with many teachers including Louise Hay, author of the book, “You Can Heal Your Life.” Louise led me to practice positive affirmations and visualizations with delightful results. I attracted my dream job, my dream home, and the man of my dreams!
However, in spite of my success, I felt like something was missing and awareness of that gap nagged at me. Sometimes affirmations didn’t work; why was that? Was there some sort of missing link between affirmations and successful manifestation that I was missing? How exactly was it that we create what happens to us and how could I be more effective at it?
I still remember the day I discovered what the missing link was! It was May 2002 and I was returning home from the Book Expo on a plane from New York bound back to Seattle with a stop over in Chicago. I was reading the book, “Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting” by Lynn Grabhorn, and getting more excited by the minute. My plane was grounded in Chicago for several hours and while the other passengers were cursing their fate, I was blessing mine because I suddenly had time to finish reading the book that answered the questions I was asking.
The answer was that it is the astonishing power of feelings that is the real magnetic pull in the manifesting process. Thinking alone is not enough. We have to feel good when we are thinking about what we want! When we’re feeling good, we are attracting people, events and circumstances that we want. And when we’re feeling bad, we are attracting people, events and circumstances that we don’t want. I had to know more.
The book “Excuse Me” led me to the work of Abraham-Hicks and to a much deeper understanding of the law of attraction and the power of feelings. Finally all my questions were answered as master teacher Abraham presented a full explanation of how we can be, do or have whatever we want.
For the past 7 years I have immersed myself in the Abraham teachings and my life has been joyously transformed. If you are a student of the law of attraction, you have probably met Abraham in the original version of the movie, The Secret.
“When you understand the power of feeling good now,
no matter what,
you will hold the key to the achievement of
any state of being,
any state of health,
any state of wealth, or
any state of anything you desire.”— Esther and Jerry Hicks (The Teachings of Abraham),
“Ask and It is Given”
The Law of Attraction is the manager that brings like vibrations together. How we are vibrating in any moment is based on the thoughts we are thinking and the stories we are telling ourselves. And we can tell how we are vibrating by the way we feel. When we are thinking thoughts that feel good, we are attracting things that will feel good when they come. And when we are thinking thoughts that feel bad, we are attracting things that will not feel good when they come.
“How you think and feel and what manifests is always a vibrational match.”
– Abraham-Hicks
For example, if you are thinking about going on a holiday and excitedly imagining the places you’ll see and the experiences you want to have, you are in the process of attracting something that will feel like that wonderful vacation feeling that you are thinking now. It may or may not be exactly the thing you are focused on.
On the other hand, if you are worried about losing your job, imagining what it would be like to be unemployed and have no income, then not only do you increase your chances of being laid off, you are also in the process of attracting circumstances that will feel as awful as losing your job. Your matching manifestation could even be a car accident or an illness.
How we are feeling in the moment is a match to how we’ll feel about our life’s coming attractions. Nothing is more important that feeling good because when you are feeling good you attracting good.
The key therefore to creating what you want – whether it’s a state of being, a relationship, a circumstance or things – is to reach for joy first. Many people think, “when I get that thing I’ll be happy.” But paradoxically, you must first reach for happy feelings, then everything you want will follow.
No matter what’s happening in your situation, if you can find some way to feel a little better, your vibration will rise and your coming attractions will get better. Hence my motto is “Joy First. Then anything else you have time for.” My intention to choose Joy First not only keeps me attracting more of what I want, more importantly it reminds me to BE who I really am.
If you’d like to create your life on purpose, instead of by default based on conditions, choose Joy first, then anything else you have time for. Not only will you be in the receiving mode for all the things you want, you will also thrive as the powerful genius Source creator that you are.

I loved reading about your journey! And how wise your father was to teach you the power of belief in a sneaky way but at the same time in a way that you could show yourself your own power.
Thanks Flavia! From your website http://www.yesyesyescoaching.com/ I can tell that you are kindred spirit also very interested in how we can use our joy power to create whatever our heart desires.
