The new year is like a blank canvas, upon which we can create anew from all possibilities.
It’s a grand time to look within and ask “What would I really love to be, do and have?”
And “What feelings do I want to experience more of?”
Here are three ways to experience more delight in 2018:
1. Set Intentions
If you already have some goals in mind, one way to get into the feelings is to ask yourself,
“Why do I want this goal?
How would it feel to be in my ideal situation?”
For example, “why do I want to hike to Lake O’hara in Yoho National Park?”
Because I want to feel the thrill of seeing jewel-blue lakes and breathtaking vistas. Because I want to feel light on my feet, feel a bounce in my step, and feel grace, strength and ease in my movements. I want to feel joyful, energetic, free-spirited.
When you focus on the feelings you want, rather than on specific end goals, you can have what you want now. You don’t have to hike to Lake O’hara or release 20 pounds to feel joyful now. You can feel joyful no matter what.
And once you have the feeling, you’ll be inspired with ideas about how you can let your goals happen. The journey is delightful and the manifestations are like icing on the cake 🙂 .

2. Create a Visual
Another way to focus your attention on and get excited about what you really want is to create a visual representation of your dreams and goals.
This is done by collecting inspiring images and words representing what you want and putting them together in a scrapbook, or on a poster board, or another medium that pleases you.

Or create a visual image or images on the computer.
3. Create a Theme
Another path to what you want, is to pick a word or phrase to capture the feeling of what you want to expand into. Sometimes it helps to bring to mind a peak experience and feel what it felt like to be there. Your theme word(s) can then help you anchor the feeling.
For 2018, my word is delight. I want to delight in everyone and everything. To delight in coaching, delight in eating, delight in working, delight in moving my body, delight in travelling, delight in reading, delight in my home, delight in abundance, delight in sleeping, delight in connecting with others…
Here are some other examples of themes:
• radical contentment
• open to receive
• succulent joy
• thrilling adventures
• love beyond words
• 10 times bolder
• high on life
Just choose the words that make your heart sing. You can turn it into an “I am” statement.
I am delight.
I am open to receive.
I am succulent joy.
You have the ability right now, through the use of your imagination to create any kind of 2018 you desire. Set your intentions, vividly imagine the details with all of your senses, and hold the vision.
As you live life, remember that all of your power is in the present moment. As you follow what feels better in the moment – to think, to say and to do – you are moving in the direction of your goals and dreams.
